CAR BOOT SALE THIS SUNDAY AT ELLENDEN 

Harvington First School PTFA have organised a Car Boot sale, to be held on
our car park this coming Sunday 9am - 12pm - £5 a pitch with all proceeds
going to the school.  A great opportunity for a clear out. Refreshments
will be available to purchase.

NEW LINES - GURKHA FINE FOODS 

NOT SO MUCH A NEW LINE, BUT WE HAVE STOCKED UP AGAIN ON THE GURKHA CURRY
SAUCES FONT-SIZE: 14PT; FONT-FAMILY: "COMIC SANS MS"; MSO-BIDI-FONT-WEIGHT:
BOLD;"> YOU MAY REMEMBER THEY DID A SAMPLING AT OUR OPEN DAY IN 2008.  

GURKHA FINE FOODS IS A FAMILY RUN BUSINESS BASED IN NUNEATON. CHRIS, A
BRITISH ARMY CAPTAIN IS CURRENTLY ENJOYING HIS SECOND TOUR WITH THE
GURKHAS, WHICH PROMPTED THE FAMILY TO SET UP THE BUSINESS. IN ADDITION THE
COMPANY SUPPORT THE GURKHA WELFARE TRUST
WORKING TO ALLEVIATE HARDSHIP AND
DISTRESS AMONG GURKHA EX-SERVICEMEN.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK - THANKS TO KAREN OUR SUPPLIER OF HARVINGTON FRUIT
">AUBERGINE,MUSHROOM AND TOMATO BOLOGNAISE 
INGREDIENTS

25g Butter

2 tbspn Olive Oil

1 onion chopped

2 Cloves Garlic crushed

1 Aubergine finely chopped

175g mushroom sliced

6 large Plum Tomatoes chopped

1 Vegetable Stock Cube

2 tspn Dried Mixed Herbs

 Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper

300g Spaghetti

1 tspn Light or Dark Muscovado Sugar

METHOD

1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan with the olive oil. Add the onion
and garlic, stir well, then cover and reduce the heat to low. Allow them to
"sweat" for 4-5 minutes 

2. Add the Aubergine and Mushrooms to the saucepan. Stir well, cover and
cook over a very low heat for a further 5 minutes 

3. Add the tomatoes to the saucepan, along with the stock cube,
herbs and
sugar. Season with salt and pepper, then cook, uncovered for about 20-30
minutes, until reduced and thickened. 

4. About 15 minutes before you want to eat, cook the spaghetti in plenty
of lightly salted boiling water. 

5. Divide the pasta between four warmed pasta bowls and top with
bolognaise sauce. Serve with grated cheese.

front generally - Not sure there will be any fillet available on the shelf
this week as a lot has been ordered - but each beef animal does vary in

CYRIL HAS PICKED THE FIRST OF OUR PLUMS..THE HERMAN IS ONE OF THE VERY
EARLY PLUMS WHICH DOESN'T CONTAIN A STONE AND HAS A GOLDEN FLESH. IT IS
OFTEN DESCRIBED AS BEING "OF EXCELLENT EATING QUALITY"..

MARTIN FROM CHURCH LENCH HAS INFORMED ME HE WILL BE ABLE TO SUPPLY US WITH
RUNNER BEANS LATER IN THE SEASON, BUT IN THE MEANTIME THE FEEDBACK ON THE
OMBERSLEY BEANS HAS BEEN VERY GOOD 

* ELLENDEN RASPBERRIES  

 THESE WILL PROBABLY FINISH THIS WEEKEND, HOWEVER WE WILL HAVE WINTER
RASPBERRIES AVAILABLE LATER IN THE SEASON. 

* OFFENHAM CHERRIES 

VERY SWEET AND JUICY AT THE MOMENT - I CAN EAT BY THE PUNNET FULL.. 

* STRAWBERRIES 

STILL AVAILABLE, FROM LEDBURY. 

* BROAD BEANS FONT-FAMILY: "COMIC SANS MS";">  

PICK YOUR OWN PLUMS 

WE PLANNED TO DO THIS LAST YEAR, BUT DUE TO A LATE FROST THE YIELD WAS SO
POOR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.HOWEVER THIS YEAR WE ARE HOPING ON THE WEEKEND OF THE
8TH/9TH AUGUST AND/OR 15TH/16TH OF AUGUST TO DO TRACTOR "> WATCH THIS SPACE
FOR MORE DETAILS - THE WEATHER WILL OBVIOUSLY PLAY A ROLE IN HOW QUICKLY
THE FRUIT RIPENS ETC. 

THAT COVERS EVERYTHING FOR THIS WEEK, IT IS NICE TO HAVE SO MUCH FRESH
LOCAL PRODUCE AVAILABLE - ENJOY IT WHILST IT LASTS..
