Hi All 

The current weather conditions are not at all helpful for the fruit &
vegetables in the shop, or David's frame of mind for that matter ! 

In particular any soft fruit really needs to be consumed on the day of
purchase - the produce at the supermarket is sprayed to maintain shelf
life, even fruit picked fresh daily just will not keep in temperatures of
28 degrees.... 

Please note we will not be over stocking the shelves, and we have moved a
lot of the salad produce to the chiller by the till. PLEASE ASK IF YOU
CANNOT FIND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

NEW LINES 

WE HAVE SOLD ALL OF FOOD GENIE'S QUICHES', SO WILL BE STOCKING THOSE AGAIN
THIS WEEKEND. PLEASE DO TELL US IF THERE ARE ANY OF HIS OTHER PRODUCTS YOU
WOULD LIKE TO SEE ON THE SHELF? I KNOW HE SAMPLED A LOT OF HIS "SWEETS" ON
THE OPEN DAY 

RECIPE OF THE WEEK - THANKS TO TOM 
BROAD
BEAN font-family: ">

INGREDIENTS

 Rissoto rice (Arborio rice) 70-80 gms per person

White wine, about half a glass per person

Smoked streaky bacon- dry cured

Small onion

Garlic clove

Broad beans (lightly steamed or boiled) Use the water to make stock.

Vegetable stock.(stock cube is ok)

Parmisan shavings

Black pepper

METHOD

Chop the bacon, onion and garlic and fry in a little butter.

Add the rice and fry gently for a few minutes.

Add the wine and simmer until it is nearly absorbed.

Boil the stock and keep it hot. Add half a cup at a time as it is

absorbed. This will take 30-40 minutes.

The rice should be soft and creamy with a little bite.

Stir in the pepper, parmisan and the beans then serve.

Especially good with baked butternut squash.

STRAWBERRIES 

JOHN AND BETTY'S STRAWBERRIES HAVE FINISHED FOR THE SEASON...... HOWEVER
WE HAVE GOT STRAWBERRIES FROM HONEYBOURNE NOW IN STOCK.  

HARVINGTON CHERRY TOMATOES 

After the success of last weekend we will be supplied with Cherry Tomatoes
from Harvington again this weekend - we will still have the Buckland
available in all varieties. 

ENGLISH SALADING 

The following are all currently available:  

Ice Berg Lettuce, Little Gem Lettuce, Raddish, Cucumber, Water Cress,
Mixed Leaf, Spring Onion and Celery.
