Hi All
How time flies when you are having fun - the summer holidays are
practically over!
PICK YOUR OWN PLUMS
Thank you to everyone who supported our Plum Picking Weekend - David
seemed responsible for lots of very happy children! He has said we will do
a repeat again this weekend, but the tractor rides may not be so frequent -
please ring David on 07767 206488 to find out when they will be taking
place.
ELLENDEN HOME GROWN FRUIT font-size: 14pt;">We have the following fruit

Victoria, Majorie Seedling and Burbank Plums
Lord Lambourne, Worcester, Discovery and Bramley Apples

The following fruit and vegetables are being sourced from Karen at
Harvington:

RECIPE OF THE WEEK
PLUM ICE CREAM - THANK YOU JO - WE WERE EVEN TREATED TO SAMPLE SOME - A
BIG THUMBS UP FROM DAVID,
EMILY AND TOBY!
INGREDIENTS:
* 450g ripe Ellenden plums, stoned and quartered
* 125g light muscovado sugar
* 4 Ellenden egg yolks
* 125g icing sugar
* 284ml pot double cream
METHOD:
1. Put the plums in a pan with the muscovado sugar and 300ml water. Bring
to the boil, cover and simmer for about 10 minutes until the plums are
really tender. Press the stewed fruit through a sieve. Chill the pure in
the fridge for 20 minutes.
2. Put the egg yolks and icing sugar in a bowl and stand the bowl over
(not in) a saucepan of gently simmering water. Whisk with electric beaters
until the mixture has just warmed through. Take the bowl off the heat and
continue whisking until the mix has trebled in volume. Chill in the fridge.
3. Whip the cream with 2 tbsp iced water until it just holds its shape.
Add the plum pure, egg mixture and cream and whisk lightly together. Either
churn in an ice-cream maker or pour into a container and freeze for about 1
hour until mushy. Turn
into a chilled bowl and whisk vigorously. Return to
the container or set in small moulds and freeze for 2-3 hours until firm.
Makes 1 litre.

AVAILABLE SOON..... FROM PREVIOUS YEARS THE FILLET AND RIBS ARE USUALLY THE
FIRST CUTS TO SELL OUT.

(01386 870296) or replying to this mail. Steak is continuing to sell out
very fast - please order in advance if you want any for a specific
occasion.
