Hello All

The Game Fair has been and gone......It didn't have any significant impact
on us either way.  The children and I managed to go Friday, Emily was
involved in a demonstration with Pony Club, I personally could not get
over the
size of the event.  They're were certainly plenty of people visiting the
show, so I hope it was lucrative for the area generally.


COTSWOLD PIE COMPANY
This week we will have Steak & Kidney pies in Fresh, made with our own
beef.  There are Stow pies and Steak & Ale pies available in the
freezer.

DAIRY HOUSE PRODUCE
This week we have the following:

* Large Low Fat Raspberry yogurt
* Large Low Fat Natural yogurt
* A range of Small Low Fat yogurts
* A range of small Whole Fat yogurts
* Organic Mature Chedder


SEASONAL PREODUCE - ELLENDEN HOME-GROWN PLUMS

We have our first crop of plums available in the shop - "Violetta"
variety.  This is a dessert plum with a lovely sweet flavour.

David is hoping the Swan Plums might be ready by the weekend; he also
mentioned that the Victoria's are not far off and Discovery Apples.


RECIPE OF THE WEEK - Citrus Mustard Lamb Chops

As the children are now enjoying the school holidays, I thought this
recipe was appropriate when bordem sets in!

Serves 4

Preparation Time:  5 minutes
Cooking Time:      Under 20 minutes

INGREDIENTS

8 ELlenden Lamb Chops
Salt & Freshly Milled Black Pepper

FOR THE CITRUS AND MUSTARD GLAZE

120ml / 6 tbsp Lime or Lemon marmalade
30ml / 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
30ml / 2 tbsp fresh orange juice

METHOD

1.  To prepare the glaze; in a small bowl mix together the ingredients

2.  Place the chops on a grill pan, season and cook for 6-8 minutes on
    each side.  During the last 3-4 minutes brush with the glaze.

3.  Serve with a mixed salad, crusty flatbread and lemon wedges

FARMING NEWS
We run our Hen Adoption Scheme all year round, so if you are looking for
an activity for the children during the holidays, they can come and visit
their hen and help collect eggs - taking home six eggs per visit.  Could
also be a way of encouraging a healthy meal! 

I have been asked by a few customers what is growing in the field behind
the shop.  I have asked the farmer and the reply was:

Sweet Corn
Sun Flowers
Runner Beans
Courgettes

They all seem to be progrressing well at the moment!
