Hello All
The weather is certainly bringing the harvest on, the wheat by the shop is
beginning to ripen very quickly. Matthew is very excited about sitting in
the Combine Harvester with his Daddy!
GOLD AWARDS - COTSWOLD PIE COMPANY
As you may have read in the Evesham Journal, the Cotswold Pie Company won
a Gold award for their Pork Pies, and Steak & Kidney Pie; In addition they
were awarded Bronze for their "Stow Pie" which is made from Beef and
Venison. Both pies supplied to the shop are made using our own Beef!
We have supported this company since we opened in May 2007, formally known
as "Robfis". It is great they have had some recognition nationally. In
addition to the above, they also supply us with:
* Beef & Ale pies made with our own beef & Local Purity Ale
* Packs of our own Cooked Topside of Beef
* packs of Cooked Gammon
* Various flavours of quiche
* Chicken & Ham Pies
NEW LINES - SWEET PEPPER & GOATS CHEESE FILO TART
This is part of Field Fayres' frozen lines. It is a Filo pastry filled
with sweet peppers in a red pesto sauce topped with creamy goats cheese.
Feedback on this product would be much appreciated, I have to make another
frozen order next week.

We are now stocking their "Summer Barbecue" Flavour to fit with the very
warm weather we are experiencing!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK - BARBECUED SLOW BRAISED SHOULDER OF LAMB
Serves: 6 - 8
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 3 hours 20 minutes
INGREDIENTS
1.8 - 2.25kg Ellenden Spring Lamb - Whole shoulder on the Bone
Salt & freshly ground black pepper
FOR THE MARINADE
4-5 large sprigs rosemary leaves, roughly chopped
75ml/5tbsp balsamic vinegar
250ml/9floz red wine
60ml/4tbsp Olive Oil
1 large red onion peeled and sliced
METHOD
1. Pre-heat the oven to Gas Mark 1-2, 140-150 C, 270-300 F
2. Place the joint on a chopping board, score the surface in a diamond
pattern & season on both sides
3. Mix the marinade ingredients together and transfer to a double-lined
plastic food bag. Add the joint and coat in the marinade. Seal the bag,
transfer to a large plate and refrigerate for up to 4 hours, turning the
bag over once.
4. Transfer the joint from the marinade and place in a large non-stick
roasting tin, with the marinade mixture from the bag. Cover with foil and
roast in the oven for 3-4 hours
5. Remove the joint from the oven and remove the onion and rosemary from
the surface of the joint. Cook on a prepared barbecue for 10 minutes on
each side. Transfer to a large plate, cover and leave to rest for 10-15
minutes.
6. Carve the lamb and serve with fresh salad leaves.
FISHING NEWS - LESSONS
Mal will be here again this weekend - I have lovely photographs of the
children fishing from last weekend, I am hoping Cathy will put them on the
website for me!
I think that covers everything for this week, I hope the country now
supports a sportsman with a real passion for his sport!
