Hello All

I so hope we haven't had our summer.......The cool weather has played
havoc with the Asparagus harvest. 

ELLENDEN ASPARAGUS
We are still picking our own Asparagus daily, but the quantity over the
weekend did drop considerably.  We are more than willing to put rounds of
Premium or Standard aside for customers, please just ring the shop or send
an email with a days notice.



NEW PRODUCTS - ELLENDEN SPRING LAMB
Amazing feedback on this product - thank you to all who have come into the
shop to pass comment.  There is obvioulsy something special in the
Harvington soil which leads to lovely tender, sweet tasting meat!  We will
have this available again this weekend.


GHURKHA SAUCES
These sauces seem to be selling very well at the moment, for those of you
who have not tried, they are coming to do a sampling on the Open Day -
Sunday June 13th.  We have stocked up with the "Cucumber Achar" (Chutney);
and the "Sabji Gourmet Curry Sauce" having sold out of these products. 


DAIRY HOUSE
This produce sold very well last week, so we have re-stocked with

Organic Large Low Fat Yogurts
Organic Large Whole milk Yogurts
Organic Cheesecakes
Organic Tasty Cheddar
Organic Mature Cheddar

They are currently not producing the small 125ml yogurts.



PULLET EGGS (Small eggs)
The young hens have started to lay eggs which you may have seen at the
front of the shop. These are the small eggs which are ideal for the
following:

Omlettes
Scambled egg
Yorkshire Pudding mixture
Small fried eggs for those that don't like so much albumen.

They are also cheaper in price.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK - ASPARAGUS WITH POACHED EGG

This is a very simple but tasty recipe using 'gras'
 
Fresh Ellenden Asparagus (as much as you like) - steamed
 
On each serving add a soft poached egg and shavings of parmesan cheese
 
Serve with fresh crusty bread and butter.
 
Simple and delicious!



FARMING NEWS
David and Matthew have just planted some Sweet corn, and the we will be
planting Sun Flowers again this year for those of you organising Harvest
Festivals.


OPEN FARM SUNDAY JUNE 13TH

The ever popular Tractor & Trailer Rides will run regularly, and we are
planning a family Nature Trail around the land here at Ellenden.

We will be having a tasting tent of local suppliers again, and we are
hoping to try and launch some
new products - Watch this space....

This year David is hoping the children will be able to plant seeds in the
area of land behind the shop - last year the rain put a stop to this, but
fingers crossed for a better day this year.....  The plan is that each row
of seeds will be labled so that the children came come and visit, and
watch
their produce grow!

As well as the Horse & Hound Demonstration, Jo and her team are running
the following novelty Dog Show Classes:

1.  Best Short Coat
2.  Best Long Coat
3.  Waggiest Tail
4.  Best Condition Dog or Bitch
5.  Most Appealing Eyes
6.  Gog the judge would most like to take home
All classes are £1 per dog, payable at the ring side, with rossettes 1st
to 6th place.  First class starts at 12 noon.
